GMB assists Red Cross with AR disaster relief

The Village Shopping Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, donated space for the American Red Cross disaster relief headquarters during June's devastating floods.

Associated Press - June 11: The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning around 2 a.m. after the slow-moving storm dumped heavy rain on the area. At that point, a gauge at nearby Langley showed the Little Missouri River was less than 4 feet deep. But as the rain rolled down the steep hillsides, it built up volume and speed.

Even if people attempted to leave at the first sign of danger, water climbing higher and higher along the valley walls may already have inundated a number of low-water crossings, trapping them, [according to Tabitha Clarke, a hydrologist with the National Weather Service office in North Little Rock].

"On behalf of the people we help through your support, the American Red Cross extends our deepest appreciation to Greater Missouri Builders for supporting our disaster relief and recovery efforts for the Arkansas floods & tornado," wrote Meghan O'Hara with the American Red Cross.

"It was our pleasure to help in any way," replied Lindell Runnels, a property manager for Greater Missouri Builders.
